The traffic signal switch over to flashing red & yellow lights at the Centennial & Washington Avenue intersection (intended to begin on July 3, 2017) has been unexpectedly delayed. More details of this switch over once implemented are below:
The City of Zeeland plans to switch the traffic signal at the Centennial Street and Washington Avenue intersection to full-time flash mode on July 3, 2017. The signal will flash yellow light (for east-west bound traffic) on Washington and flash red (for north-south bound traffic) on Centennial, giving Washington Avenue traffic the right-of-way. This will be for a trial period of 90 days. Near the conclusion of the trial period the City will make a decision on whether the switch will become permanent. In addition, the pedestrian signals at this location will also be disabled or bagged so as not to confuse pedestrian traffic.
