Strategic Action Plan

City of Zeeland’s detailed ActionSteps, Outcome Indicators and
Operational Goals to Spread “Zeel” in 2025

Letter from the Mayor

Welcome to the City of Zeeland. Since our incorporation in 1907, and inspired by our Dutch heritage, Zeeland has grown into a vibrant community that values connection, collaboration, and progress.

Zeeland is proud to be a place where people choose to live, work, and raise families. Our community is built on strong partnerships among residents, businesses, schools, churches, and local government. This cooperative spirit shapes how we plan, how we grow, and how we care for one another.

The City of Zeeland is committed to thoughtful, sustainable growth. Through state-supported incentives, city-owned utilities, and reliable infrastructure, we strive to create an environment that supports local businesses while maintaining the quality of life our residents value. These efforts have helped Zeeland remain resilient and adaptable in a changing economy.

What truly sets Zeeland apart is its people. Our workforce is known for its strong work ethic, skill, and sense of pride in the community. That commitment — along with an engaged citizenry — continues to strengthen our local economy and civic life.

Working together is at the heart of Zeeland’s success. The Zeeland City Council, City staff, and I work closely with our community partners and residents to ensure Zeeland remains a welcoming, forward-looking city.

Whether you are visiting, considering Zeeland as your home, or already part of our community, we invite you to explore our city and stay connected as we continue to grow together.

Sincerely,
Richard Van Dorp III
Mayor, City of Zeeland

City Code

The City Code is a codification of ordinances passed by the Zeeland City Council which is generally provided also for making copies of the codification available for public inspection and for distribution to the public. The Code requires enactment as the law of the City. Compilation and codification should be considered as successive phases of the process of organizing the City’s laws. Compilation makes the City’s laws more accessible, codification makes them more understandable. The compilation of ordinances is a vital and necessary tool in the office of the City Clerk.

The city code is maintained by Municode.
