Water

While the city currently does not offer city-sponsored recycling, there are some options available to residents. Ottawa County Environmental Health offers a comprehensive recycling program for paper, metal, plastic, glass as well as operating several hazardous waste sites throughout the county. Many private waste haulers provide recycling services.

Clean Water Plant
The Zeeland Clean Water Plant provides service for residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the City of Zeeland, Zeeland Township and parts of Holland Township, on average, cleaning around 2.1 million gallons of wastewater on a day to day basis. Over 119 miles of sanitary sewer lines and 9 lift stations transports the used water, which is now called wastewater, to the Clean Water Plant. Using physical and a biological nutrient removal process, the plant cleans the wastewater so it can be returned to nature in a safe manner to protect the watershed environment.
