Taft Street Reconstruction Project

*September 10, 2025 Project Update*

Due to unanticipated delays, the decision has been made to postpone the project (Taft from Main to Central) until the Spring of 2026. 

This project is slated to begin Monday, June 9, 2025, with completion projected for the fall. Please note construction activities and schedules are weather dependent and subject to change.

The city will be reconstructing Taft Street (from Huizenga to Main) as well as sections of Lincoln (Taft to the dead end), Lawrence (Jefferson to Taft) and Jefferson (Lawrence to south dead end). Improvements will include:

Taft: street reconstruction, sanitary sewer (Valley to Main), storm sewer/drainage improvements, replace water main, lead water service replacement, add sidewalk in locations that do not have it & concrete drive approaches.

Lincoln: replace pavement, sanitary sewer, storm sewer & water service replacement.

Lawrence: street reconstruction, sanitary sewer, replace water main, replace sidewalk where removed, concrete drive approaches.

Jefferson: street reconstruction, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, replace water main, add sidewalk to east side, concrete drive approaches.

Cedar Drain: increase the drainpipe size from 18″ to 24″.
