Full-Time Equipment Operator
The City of Zeeland Streets Department is seeking a full-time Equipment Operator. This position performs a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to street, infrastructure, and public area maintenance.

What You’ll Do
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks involving carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, road work, and utility repair
- Construct and maintain public improvements such as retaining walls, drainage structures, and building enhancements
- Operate equipment including loaders, backhoes, mowers, sweepers, dump trucks, snowplows, and power tools
- Conduct street maintenance including patching, sealing, sign repair, striping, curb work, and sidewalk repairs
- Support sewage and drainage system tasks (jetting, catch basin work)
- Participate in 24-hour response needs, especially in winter seasons
- Perform grounds and building maintenance as needed
- Maintain tools, equipment, and assist with vehicle maintenance
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
- At least two years of construction, equipment operation, or street maintenance experience
- Valid Michigan Class B CDL required, Class A preferred
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation, infrastructure maintenance, safety procedures, and construction tools/materials
- Ability to perform a wide range of skilled maintenance tasks
